Rainy Season Weather and Full Moon, Challenges Anglers

The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of July 6, 2025, gives anglers the full moon phase and a rainy season weather forecast. All fishing factors considered, other than today anglers will have little wind, overcast conditions, and the threat of lightning as thunderstorm activity becomes the afternoon norm when fish tend to bite best during the rainy season.

The lack of bright sunshine for extended periods will greatly slow down feeding activity and the early morning bite will suffer due to low dissolved oxygen levels from 3-8 a.m. When there are periods of three hours or more of bright sunshine expect feeding activity to improve in healthy vegetation areas, the deeper the better.

As with every month’s full moon phase, the more nighttime cloud cover, the better the fishing will be twelve hours later during the underfoot period. The best situation we can hope for this week is nighttime cloud cover followed by periods of bright sunshine during the late morning to early afternoon hours when the moon is underfoot. Perhaps this week’s forecast will not be correct Wednesday through Friday during the peak full moon days.

The rainy season weather will challenge your safety if you choose to fish during the daily prime period. Be sure to have a ‘Lightning Safety Plan’ if you head out on the lake to fish when fish are most actively feeding because I assure you the threat of lightning is very real.
