Rainy Season First Quarter Moon Fishing Requires Safety Precautions.

The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of June 1-8, 2025, gives anglers the first quarter moon phase and a rainy season weather forecast which will produce an ideal sun-to-cloud ratio just about every day and plenty of moving water in and out of water bodies due to the significant rainfall predicted daily. Other than the sun-to-cloud ratio and water flow, there will be no other fishing factors which produce fish adjustment activity.

All fishing factors considered, anglers will do best to fish when wind speeds climb to a daily high speed which is predicted to be in the ten mph range from a southerly direction today and Monday. Tuesday through Thursday when winds will come from the east at six to eight mph. This daily wind pattern will work well with the overhead period and the sun-to-cloud ratio, which will occur at the same time.

As is always the case during Florida’s rainy season, fish move into the deepest healthy thriving vegetation they can find. Oxygen production during bright extended periods becomes the key factor as to when fish feed. And the deeper the oxygen producing grass bed is, the more fish it will consistently hold. Focusing on influents and effluents is always a good plan.

Make sure to have a lightning escape plan figured out which places you within a vehicle or building when lightning strikes. And remember it’s alligator mating season and big males will attack anything that enters the water. Always assume a big male gator is present even if you can’t see him.

This week the best fishing occurs when the greatest jeopardy occurs. Lightning and aggressive gators will be a real threat when fish are feeding at the highest rate. Act accordingly.
