Exceptional Fishing Days Today through Wednesday

The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of June 22-27, 2025, gives anglers the best fishing days of June and a rainy season weather forecast with little thunderstorm activity for the first half of the week and normal thunderstorm activity for the second half of the week.

All fishing factors considered, the lunar perigee occurs today followed by the lunar high on Tuesday and the new moon Wednesday, which means fish feeding activity duration and intensity will improve substantially today through Wednesday when the moon is overhead during the middle morning to early afternoon hours. A feed rating of nine will occur Wednesday.

Other than today, there will be an even mix of clouds and sun which will provide adequate dissolved oxygen levels during the overhead moon. Wind speeds will be ideal from 10 a.m. through the afternoon today through Wednesday but little to no wind is forecasted for the second half of the week.

And as is almost always the case during the rainy season, atmospheric pressure will be a non-factor and the more sunshine there is during the morning hours the better the fishing will be during the late morning hours and extending through the afternoon to evening hours when thunderstorm activity occurs.

Tuesday through Thursday very little cloud cover and thunderstorm activity is forecasted which means predominant sunshine will trigger higher than average oxygen production within the submerged grass beds. Find the deeper grass beds and you will find active feeding fish.

Major Solar-Lunar Period: Today the moon is overhead at 10:38 a.m. producing a feed rating of seven to eight from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Daily the overhead moon occurs later by sixty-five minutes and gradually improves over the next two days to a nine or ten feed rating on Wednesday.

Wednesday through Friday the feed rating will diminish gradually back to a seven rating and next weekend a feed rating of six will occur in the middle to late afternoon hours. Wind speeds are forecasted to be in the ideal wind speed range of eight to twelve mph today through Wednesday and the second half of the week daily high speeds will be in the six to seven mph range. The good news is when the fish are biting the winds will be at the daily high mark.

Minor Solar Lunar Periods: Today the moonset occurs at 5:47 p.m. producing a feed rating of five from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Daily the moonset occurs later by seventy minutes today through Tuesday and occurs later by an average of sixty minutes Wednesday and Thursday, and fifty minutes later Friday through next week. The feed rating will remain at five today through the midweek but the second half of the week the rating will decline to a three to four rating.

A second minor period happens today when the moonrise occurs at 3:34 a.m. producing a feed rating of two to three from 3-5 a.m. (Note: low oxygen rates at this time of day will greatly decrease feeding activity in most lakes without depths of sixteen or greater depths). The moonrise occurs later by fifty minutes today and Monday, sixty-five minutes Tuesday and Wednesday, and an average of sixty-seven minutes Thursday through next weekend. The feed rating will improve when the moonrise and sunrise harmonizes Tuesday through Thursday to a five rating where it will remain through the end of the week.

A third minor period happens today when the moon is underfoot at 11:08 p.m. producing a feed rating of three from 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Daily the underfoot moon occurs later by sixty-five minutes and remains at the same feed rating.

Lake Istokpoga S68 Spillway and Lake Level Status: Lake level is currently at 36.84 NAVD88 with four S68 spillway gates closed. The NAVD88 Offset to NGVD29 is + 1.16 feet = 38.00NGVD29. The current seasonal schedule maximum level is 38.25 NGVD29 and the minimum level is 37.50’ NGVD29. Today the lake is about three inches below the maximum level.
