Get Ready for Great Full Moon Fishing This Week.
The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for Aug. 23-26, 2026, gives anglers the second-best fishing days of the month when the full moon 7-day phase begins Monday and peaks Thursday night. However, this month’s full moon will be weak which means anglers can expect a 6-7 feed rating at best Thursday through next weekend.
The weather forecast will be very good for anglers fishing the full moon period. Clear skies and very little wind will create ideal conditions for some excellent top water fishing in the light of the full moon. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights’ forecast predicts thunderstorm activity, and cloud cover will dissipate by 9-10 p.m. each night which if true, will create perfect conditions for retrieving a heavy action top water bait on the surface within your favorite fishing holes.
So, get ready for some good nighttime full moon fishing this week. It’s been a while since I worked a black Jitterbug through the reflection of a full moon on the calm midnight waters…...I can hear that unmistakable sound of a giant bass interrupting the gurgling of a large Jitterbug as it inhales it off the surface.
