Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for March 30-April 6, 2025
Sunday's Complete Comprehensive Fishing Article for Florida's Freshwater Anglers
Fish Are Warming Up and Seeing Green
The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of March 30 – April 6, 2025, gives anglers the end of the super new moon phase and a spring season weather forecast. All fishing factors considered, other than today’s low pressure system’s thunderstorms, bright sunshine, ideal winds and a strong lunar influence will produce better than average fishing during the daily lunar periods.
Water temperatures are warming up and fish are seeing ‘green’ better than ever. Anglers can expect aggressive feeding activity when the moon is overhead during the middle to late afternoon hours during the first half of the week and during the sunset hours during the second half of the week.

This week I’ve moved the paywall toward the end of the article. Enjoy.
Solar-Lunar Factor: Solar noon occurs at 1:30 p.m. DST. today, but will decline to 1:27 p.m. DST over the next ten days. Solar noon will continue to decline until it begins to advance again on May 15 when it arrives at 22 minutes and 26 seconds after solar noon.
The new moon occurred yesterday, and the lunar orbit perigee happens today, within twenty-four hours which earns this month’s new moon ‘super’ status. And in three and a half days the moon arrives directly within the solar energy path—lunar high, which means the super new moon effect happening today will continue through Wednesday into Thursday.
Weather Factors: Heavy cloud cover today and thunderstorm activity might……. slow down the pre-front feeding activity which occurred yesterday---albeit fish will not be close to protective cover like they were yesterday. Ideal wind speeds from the southeast will continue into Monday and switch to a southwest, west wind by the evening hours.
Tuesday a mild three to five mph west southwest wind will give way to a fifteen-mph southeast wind on Wednesday, which will continue through Thursday. Friday through next Sunday an ideal southerly wind will produce speeds averaging ten mph.
Bright sunshine will prevail Monday through the end of the week. And atmospheric pressure change will ‘not’ be a factor to consider, with only a 0.07 in hg change occurring too slow to matter daily. It should be noted that the extended weather forecast does predict a 0.11 in hg drop Saturday and Sunday morning, which if it results in being true will cause pre-front adjustment activity and feed ratings will greatly improve as fish move downward for two days.
Solunar - Weather Influence Variable: Fish migrations will be longer and more intense than normally due to the super status occurring within four days of the lunar high. And the daily major feeding migration during the overhead moon remain at the same high rating for the first half of this week.
Bright sunshine and warming water will produce seventy degrees or higher temperatures during the week as spring weather conditions form a new seasonal feeding pattern caused by a predominate southeast to east winds, interrupted every five to six days by a low-pressure system which produces a day of west winds then northeast winds and then repeats the five-to-six-day pattern.
Therefore, expect fish to be following the direction of the wind and move northward and westward from where they are today, and have been for the winter season. And due to the ideal water temperatures, fish will now feed at their highest annual rate and this year’s weight gain will begin. Another super new moon, stronger than the current super new moon, will occur during the last seven days of this month, and water temps will be perfect for fish to feed at will with full digestion speed.
Major Solar-Lunar Period: Today the moon is overhead at 2:37 p.m. producing a feed rating of seven from 1-4 p.m. Daily the overhead moon occurs later by fifty-five minutes with the feed rating gradually dropping to five to six during the sunset hours Thursday through Saturday.
Minor Solar Lunar Periods: Today the moonrise occurs at 7:57 a.m. producing a feed rating of five from 7-9 a.m. Daily the moonrise occurs later by forty minutes and remains at the same feed rating until Friday when a it harmonizes with the solar noon period and produces a six rating.
A second minor period happens today when the moonset occurs at 9:23 p.m. producing a feed rating of four from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Daily the moonset occurs later by seventy-two minutes and remains at the same feed rating.
A third minor period happens today when the moon is underfoot at 2:10 a.m. producing a feed rating of three from 1-3:15 a.m. Daily the underfoot moon occurs later by forty-five minutes and remains at the same feed rating until Thursday when it begins to harmonize with the sunrise period and becomes a major period, producing a feed rating of five to six from 5:30-8:30 a.m. Next weekend a six or slightly better feed rating will occur from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Best Fishing Days: Today through Thursday the super new moon moving into the lunar high position will produce the best fishing days of March and the second-best fishing days of April. April 25-28 another super new moon will produce a nine-feed rating.
My Personal Bass Fishing Plan: Will be fishing the north and west shorelines of the lake and the south to southeast shores of islands this week, close to protective cover. Bait color choice will be black and green. Bait types will be one-ounce jigs with green trailers, seven-inch senkos in green with black quarter ounce rattling bullet weights pinned, and open sparse vegetation areas leading into thicker cover will get the one-ounce spinnerbait with gold blades and green skirts treatment.
The idea is to present all baits naturally, which means very little if any splash on entry—must place the bait into the water as naturally as possible. And it’s better to hit the vegetation with the bait than to allow a huge splash. The bait should be very big and very fat and emit heavy vibration during slow retrieves and even heavier vibration and action during faster retrieves. A successfully fed bait fish moves slower and more cautiously into protective cover than an unsuccessful feeder.
