The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of May 4-11, 2025, gives anglers a strong first quarter moon phase and a rainy season summer weather pattern. All fishing factors considered, a strong first quarter moon will keep daily feeding migration numbers up for longer periods of activity due to the lunar high occurring three days ago. But if the weather forecast turns out to be true, a rainy season weather pattern arrives this week, which means milder wind speeds and little to no pressure change, expect during severe weather events.
However, due to ideal water temperatures fish are feeding at the highest annual rate and putting on the majority of their annual weight gain. So, expect fish to be aggressively feeding during the sunrise and sunset hours over the next three days. The second half of the week the underfoot moon period will be the prime period to be on the water.
Major Solar Lunar Period: Today the moon is overhead at 8:07 p.m. producing a feed rating of seven from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Daily the overhead moon occurs later by forty-five minutes and decreases in feed rating by a full number and becomes a minor period. Wednesday a feed rating of four will occur from 9-11 p.m. However, beginning Saturday, the full moon seven-day phase begins, and the feed rating will improve to a five rating during the midnight hours.
A second major period happens today when the underfoot moon occurs at 7:43 a.m. producing a feed rating of seven from 6-9:30 a.m. Daily the underfoot moon occurs later by an average of forty minutes and remains at the same feed rating all week.
Minor Solar Lunar Periods: Today the moonrise occurs at 1:12 p.m. producing a feed rating of five from 12-2:30 p.m. Daily the moonrise occurs later by an average of fifty-three minutes and remains at the same feed rating all week.
A second minor period happens today when the moonset occurs at 2:17 a.m. producing a feed rating of three from 1-3 a.m. Daily the moonset occurs later by an average of thirty-three minutes and remains at the same feed rating until next weekend when it begins to harmonize with the sunrise and produces a four to five feed rating.
Best Fishing Days: Today will have greater fish adjustment activity due to the pressure decline of the past eighteen hours. Pre-front conditions will end sometime during the midday, so I expect fish to be feeding at above average rates during the sunrise, solar noon, and sunset periods today.
Also Thursday another low-pressure front is forecasted to arrive and will most likely cause elevated fish adjustment activity and feeding efforts should increase above normal. The underfoot period should be the better period.
