New Moon Fishing Next Four Days

The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of September 21, 2025, gives anglers the second half of the seven-day new moon phase and a rainy season weather forecast. All fishing factors considered, anglers will have an ideal twelve mph east wind today and Monday with an unpredictable sun-to-cloud factor. Tuesday through Wednesday a very mild five mph east wind will occur followed by a weak southwest wind Thursday through Saturday.

If the weather forecast is even close to accurate this week, we should have more sunshine than cloud cover which will cause fish to be more active when oxygen productions is occurring during the late morning and afternoon hours.

The lunar effect will weaken this week as the moon orbits toward the apogee, which occurs Friday and move toward the lunar low position which occurs next Sunday. Anytime there is a weakening moon and mild to no wind during the rainy season, it makes for a very tough day on the water. Nevertheless, we are in the Bass Fishing Capital of the World, where big fish can be caught on any given day.

There have been five such days during my fishing career where I got one bite during the heat of the day with no wind and water so calm I could see my reflection on the surface as I netted a double-digit bass.

However, excellent rainy season fishing conditions will occur today through Tuesday as a medium strength new moon and ideal winds create ideal conditions for fish to feed normally during the major period of the day. I expect to find quality bass at twelve-to-eighteen-foot depths feeding in grass beds.
