Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for December 7- 14, 2025
Sunday's Comprehensive Fishing Article for Florida's Freshwater Anglers
Strong Moon, Ideal Weather, Equals Good Fishing
The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of December 7-14, 2025, gives anglers the last day of a super full moon seven-day phase, a strong lunar effect and a weather forecast which signals a change from a fall pattern for the first half of the week, to a winter pattern for the second half of the week.
Ideal fishing weather conditions are predicted for the next seven days. Wind speeds, pressure change, sun-to-cloud ratio, and water temperatures will all promote a high rate of daily fish adjustment activity, which in turn improve the feeding activity during daily solunar periods.
The moon arrives at its high position within the solar energy path yesterday which means the lunar effect is as strong as it can be during the twenty-eight-day cycle. The super full moon affect is still enhancing the underfoot and overhead daily lunar period so expect today’s major period to be at worst, above average.
Today is a pre-front day which should further improve both the numbers and duration of the major feeding period during the midafternoon hours. Monday night into Tuesday midday pressure will climb 0.12 in hg which will cause some minor fish adjustment activity as fish move upward, and I predict will opportunistically feed as they move into shoreline shallows.
During the second half of this week temperatures will drop ten degrees and water temperatures will decline into the lower seventy to upper sixty degree range. Expect fish to feed at their annual highest rate until water temps a mid-sixty degree range during the midafternoon. And bass anglers should expect the spawn to begin during the second half of this month unless warmer weather returns.
A very strong moon and ideal fishing weather equals very good fishing over the next seven days.

Solar-Lunar Factor: Solar noon occurs at 12:17:17 p.m. EST. today, and will advance over the next ten days to 12:21:56 p.m. EST. Yesterday the lunar interruption level of the solar energy entering the earth’s atmosphere peaked due to the moon arriving directly within that energy path to earth.
When the earth’s solar energy levels fluctuate at the highest rate all living beings respond—the smaller the being the more the felt affects are apparent. Fish and wildlife use more physical energy during the five days leading up to and after the lunar high---a ten-day period. And the result is above-average metabolism speeds which results in faster digestion, if water temperature is in the correct physiological range which in Florida is seventy to eighty-two degrees, and ultimately increases the need to feed and skilled anglers’ success rates improve.
Today is the last day of a seven-day super full moon phase and with the lunar high occurring on day six of that lunar week, the second half of the week had a stronger lunar affect on the fish as they adjusted to the weather changes of the past three days.
Therefore, with the lunar high happening yesterday the super full moon effects are remaining strong which translates into a much higher level of fish adjustment activity today and most likely tomorrow, extending the seven-day super full moon week to eight days.
Weather Factors: Now we factor in the super full moon weather conditions of the past three days, which has been a dropping barometer which has dropped a little more than 0.10 in hg per day, which is currently in the process of finishing the three day steady decline, bottoming out late this afternoon at 29.90 in hg as the front leaves the state ahead of the arriving high pressure system.
So today then is a pre-front fishing day which has a very high lunar influence which will peak during the underfoot period today during the midafternoon hours. If you fish from noon to five or six pm, you’re going to have a high rate of success if you know where the fish have been moving to as they have been adjusting to the decreasing pressure.
When pressure changes up or down quicker that 0.10 in hg per twelve-hour period, the fish and wildlife experience a period of adjustment. I have caught all, yes all, of my largest bass on days when pressure changed 0.20 in hg or more during a twelve-hour period. My largest bass of over 15 lbs occurred when pressure increases 0.32 in hg in eight hours. She was on the boat deck during hour seven.
If weather predictions result in being true this week, a minor high pressure cold front will begin to enter the state early Monday morning and cause pressure to increase or rebound 0.18 in hg beginning Monday midday and will peak twelve hours later. Fish will be forced, probably with full stomachs and high digestion speeds, upward to maintain a comfortable level of digestion. And depending on the feeding success level during the pre-front period, opportunistic feeding will occur accordingly as fish populations move in unison upward into the shallows.
Water temperatures will not drop enough to really change the current feeding pattern caused by the super full moon last week. The underfoot period will occur during the warmest water period of the day and gradually harmonizing with the sunset period during the second half of this week. Again, the moon will remain a strong factor this week. Also, during the second half of the week the overhead period working with the sunrise will begin to produce fairly well but water temps might slow the bite down just a bit.
The sun-to-cloud ratio will be twenty-eighty today and Monday but will average about seventy-thirty the rest of the week and wind speeds will be ideal today through Tuesday and mild Wednesday through Friday with a weak high pressure system producing an ideal ten mph north wind next weekend---temperatures will not drop much if at all and pressure increase will be too gradual and weak to matter.
Solunar - Weather Variable: Today through Tuesday fish adjustment activity will be highest as discussed above. Wednesday through Friday I like the hours leading unto the sunset period best followed by the sunrise period Friday and next weekend. I don’t believe fish are responding to the highest water temperature period of the day yet but if the current winter weather pattern temperatures continue this will be a factor to consider as the month advances. And the moon is currently heading back away from the solar energy path and will arrive at the lunar low in two weeks when the new moon occurs.
Major Solar-Lunar Period: Today the moon is underfoot at 3:14 p.m. producing a feed rating of six from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Daily the underfoot moon occurs later by an average of forty-five minutes this week and diminishes in feed rating to a five rating by the midweek and remain at that rating when it occurs during the sunset period Thursday through next weekend.
Minor Solar Lunar Periods: Today the moon is overhead at 2:44: a.m. producing a four rating from 2-4 a.m. Daily the overhead moon occurs later by an average of forty-five minutes over the next seven days with a feed rating which will gradually improve to a five rating when it begins to harmonize with the sunrise period during the second half of the week—becomes a major period beginning Wednesday.
A second minor period happens today when the moonset occurs at 9:57 a.m. producing a feed rating of four from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Daily the moonset occurs later by an average of thirty-seven minutes this week, and the feed rating will remain at the same feed rating.
A third minor period happens today when the moonrise occurs at 8:33 p.m. and producing a feed rating of three to four from 7-10 p.m. Daily the moonrise occurs later by an average of fifty-seven minutes over the next seven days and produces a three-feed rating at best beginning Wednesday.
Best Fishing Days: Today and Monday pre-front conditions and a strong lunar effect will definitely cause fish to feed at a higher-than-normal rate---a six to seven rating is not out of the question during the underfoot period. Thursday and Friday the last quarter moon will bump up the feed rating during the sunset and sunrise periods with the sunset period having warmer water temperatures and therefore a slightly more aggressive bite.
Prime Monthly Periods: December 18-20 extremely weak new moon, Dec 31-January 6, 2026, strong full moon, 15-20 very weak new moon, Jan. 28-February 3 strong full moon.
Lake Istokpoga S68 Spillway and Lake Level Status: Lake level is currently at 37.85 NAVD88 with four S68 spillway gates closed. The NAVD88 Offset to NGVD29 is + 1.16 feet = 39.01NGVD29. Current maximum high level is 39.5’ NGVD and the low level is 38.5’ NVGD.
