Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for September 28-October 5, 2025
Sunday's Comprehensive Fishing Article for Florida's Freshwater Anglers
Fishing Will Improve When Full Moon Phase Arrives, Maybe.
The Florida Freshwater Fishing Forecast for the week of September 28, 2025, gives anglers a weak lunar influences the last quarter moon phase on Monday and the full moon phase beginning Saturday. A rainy season weather forecast is predicted but we will have to wait to see if that prediction is accurate—I doubt it will be considering the accuracy of the past three weeks’ forecasts.
The good news is that bright sunshine will prevail with moderate cloud cover during the afternoon and ideal fishing wind speeds will occur today through Friday with afternoon high speeds climbing to sixteen mph today through Thursday and ten to twelve mph speeds Friday through next weekend.
Atmospheric pressure change will occur enough to cause some minor upward adjustment activity Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon –0.11 in hg, as a high-pressure system enters the state. Normally 0.11 in hg movement up or down would not trigger increased activity but since it’s been three to four weeks since pressure has moved more than 0.10 in hg, fish will experience just enough discomfort to require some depth adjustment to regain regular digestion function. Again, it will be minor but during the rainy season, anything which improve activity is good news.
And it also should be noted that wind speeds of fifteen mph or more has not occurred since the beginning of June---not counting brief thunderstorm squalls. Moderately strong northerly winds will cause fish to adjust southward as they follow the wind-driven food chain. Five days of thirteen plus mph winds will change the fishery during the rainy season.
Additionally, you should take into account that most of the ‘controlled lakes’ have stopped releasing water which means lake levels are in the rise. This too will also cause fish to move, primarily into healthy vegetation which is becoming submerged or deeper as the level rises. The more vegetation which becomes submerged the more oxygen levels rise in those areas.
